Acupuncture Without Needles: Gentle Healing for Every Body
Here At Selph, we’re always exploring new ways for the body to heal itself, and sometimes that means rethinking what acupuncture looks like. Enter Toyohari, a Japanese style of acupuncture that’s completely needle-free. Instead of needles, our newest Acupuncturist, Louie, uses a flat, rounded tool to gently guide the body’s energy, creating balance without a single needle puncture. The result? A treatment that’s painless, calming, and deeply effective, ideal for those who may feel sensitive to needles, including children, pregnant women, and anyone seeking a softer approach to healing.
“Your body already knows the path to healing,” Louie shares. “My role is to clear the layers, so your body can remember that path.”
What is Toyohari?
Developed in Japan in the 20th century by blind practitioners, Toyohari is a highly specialised acupuncture technique that uses flat and rounded tools instead of needles… Yes, you read that correctly – NO NEEDLES. The result is a non-insertive, painless treatment that works by gently guiding Qi (energy) through the body’s meridians.
This makes Toyohari especially supportive for:
Women during pregnancy
Children and sensitive individuals
Those feeling anxious about traditional needling
The subtle approach allows the body to relax deeply, while still experiencing profound shifts in energy, balance, and wellbeing. Interested to try this technique out for yourself? Check it here.
