Going Deeper – Meditation Skills

Meditation is a natural state of rest. Anyone can meditate. All you need is your breath and your body. To be in a state of Meditation is to be immersed with life.

Why we love meditation:

  • Meditation is essential practice to reduce stress and balance out the nervous system.
  • Meditation is a naturally occurring rest state; it is resting in yourself whilst remaining awake and alert in the body.
  • We can induce a meditative state by doing anything simple and repetitive.
  • When we meditate we are giving our attention the chance to explore both the inward and outward so we have more awareness and a bigger perspective in everything we do.
  • Meditation is a practice of presence and more presence leads to more joy, love, and happiness.

One of our favourite instinctive meditation teachers, Dr. Lorin Roche shares the cycle of meditation and why your body loves it!

Let’s begin a meditation.

  • You must feel grounded in your body to welcome depth to your meditation practice. Make yourself comfortable and release any tension that restricts you.
  • Think of something you love to be with. Be with that; whether you sit with it, dance with it, move with it.
  • Amplify that quality through every cell, embrace whatever comes up, and keep coming back to that special something that fills you up with joy. Immerse yourself here. Allow your body and mind to tune into that space.
  • Be with it as long as you can. Feel it shape shift through your body and allow there to be a flow to what you need, thoughts great or small, movement, stillness.
  • Make your meditation less about how long and more about how it feels. The practice of being with something you love is a great place to start because it feels so good!

Commit to 5mins a day to start a regular meditation practice.

Meditation – Breath Waves with Amy Giuliano

Sit in a place where your mind meets your breath and your breath creates waves of change through your body.

The urge to merge, the longing to melt into love with the essence of life is one of a human beings strongest urges, it’s unstoppable. ~ Dr. Lorin Roche
